NATIVE SEEDS SOUTHWESTRN ENDANGERED ARIDLAND RESOURCES CLEARING HOUSE

Native Seeds/SEARCH (Southwestern Endangered Aridland Resources Clearinghouse) envisions the Greater Southwest as a place where farms and gardens, kitchens and tables, stores and restaurants are brimming with the full diversity of aridlands-adapted heirloom crops; people are keeping the unique seeds and agricultural heritage alive; and the crops, in turn, are nourishing humankind. Towards this vision, Native Seeds/SEARCH (NS/S) conserves, distributes, and documents the adapted and diverse varieties of agricultural seeds, their wild relatives and the role these seeds play in cultures of the American Southwest and Northwest Mexico. We accomplish our mission by conserving traditional Southwestern crops in our Seed Bank, as well as farmers' fields and gardeners' backyards. We supply seeds to growers the world over through our online and mail order stores. Regionally, we provide seed through our retail store in Tucson, Arizona, and through our free seed programs for Native Americans and community organizations. We engage the public in our mission through educational opportunities on how to grow, plant, use, and save the seeds for future generations.
