Mission Statement
The Matthew John Phillips Scholarship Foundation honors the life and legacy of Matthew John Phillips—a kind and joyful 14-year-old born with a complex congenital heart condition—by providing financial support to help graduating seniors in Tampa, FL, and Western Massachusetts begin their college journey and achieve their educational dream. The foundation also works to raise awareness about congenital heart disease. One of its key initiatives is the Annual Matthew John Phillips Pickleball Slam—a community-driven tournament and major fundraiser that brings people together to support students and celebrate Matthew’s spirit. Now in its third year, the 2025 tournament will take place on October 25 at Rowlett Park in Tampa, Florida.
