FOOD BANK OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO INC
Mission Statement
MISSION:The mission of the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico (FBENM) is to function as a warehousing point for emergency food items, either donated or purchased, for area service agencies that help low-income ill, elderly, children, individuals and family units that are food insecure. The FBENM does not give out food items to individuals, but offers these items to area churches, senior centers and other service agencies for their distribution to needy individuals.PURPOSE:The purpose of the FBENM is to provide a safe, quality-controlled space for the warehousing of food items for use by qualified non-profits and foster/adoptive parent groups. Additionally, our purpose is to procure food items, produce, and other non-shelf-stable goods that are not readily available in our local geographic area. This is accomplished by collecting public food donations, contacting local New Mexico producers for gleanings, and utilizing our partnerships with the New Mexico Association of Food Banks, America's Second Harvest, and the Road Runner Food Bank of Albuquerque.GOAL:The goal of the FBENM is to reach all of the food insecure citizens within our nine (9) county coverage area with a diverse, nutritionally dense selection of safe, quality controlled food items. By utilizing eight (8) of our current programs, we will be able to meet the needs of a large portion of low-income individuals within our 19,648 square mile territory, encompassing the northeastern corner of the state, including one county in Texas.
