HAPPY HEART-HAPPY HOME FARM AND RESCUE
Mission Statement
Happy Heart-Happy Home is entering its 7th year as a non-profit organization, and while we offer sanctuary to animals of all kinds, ranging from cows, goats, sheep, and the like, we have focused our mission on rescuing and rehabilitating old work horses in their senior years of life. We care for almost 40 equines, a vast majority being of a draft breed that have been worked hard their entire lives, and dumped off in the auction pipeline deemed unworthy, destined for slaughter. They suffer from chronic ailments such as osteoarthritis, lymphedema, organ failure, and the most common.. emotional trauma. These horses come to us starved, neglected, and traumatized, and it is our mission to give them peace by fixing their external AND internal scars. We use natural horsemanship to form deep connections between horse and human, and in doing so we share their story’s with the public, allowing a deeper understanding of how horses work. As our mission grows, we are in the beginning stages of offering equine therapy to the public for those suffering from various degrees of emotional trauma and mental disabilities. Hoof in hand, we are creating a happier world for both gentle giants and humans
