Mission Statement
A collaborative effort among Midland ISD and Region 18 Education Service Center began addressing the needs of at-risk students and reducing the district's high drop rate in November 1998. CISPB was founded in January 1999, the Dropout Prevention Program served 4 campuses. Communities In Schools of the Permian Basin (CISPB) dedicates time, hard work and passion to reduce the dropout rate and increase the graduation rate. Our mission is: “To surround our students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.” CISPB addresses dropout issues by providing at-risk students with a variety of programs, services and activities focused on academics, attendance, behavior, mental health and social service needs. CISPB is endorsed and accredited by the Texas Education Agency. The Texas Education Agency provides metrics and goals that CISPB must meet yearly in order to maintain our accreditation status. The Texas Education Agency requires that CISPB must case-manage at least 1530 students. In 2024 we are honored to be celebrating 25 years of impacting the at-risk student population of the Permian Basin. These are the tentative numbers at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
