LOUISIANA 4-H FOUNDATION
Mission Statement
4-H is the largest youth development outreach of the Land Grant Universities, the Cooperative Extension System, and USDA. It is made up of a community of young people across America who are supported in this developmental process by caring adult leaders. 4-H’ers are actively involved in educational projects that are fun and that use quality curriculum incorporating the most current research and knowledge available through the Land Grant University system. 4-H youth: have fun, meet new people, learn and do new things, gain life skills, build self-confidence, practice responsibility, set and achieve goals and receive recognition for their efforts and accomplishments. 4-H is open to anyone. It's for rural and city boys and girls between the ages of nine and 19. There are over 1200 students in 34 4-H clubs in Lafourche Parish which also includes a home school groups. There must be opportunities for youth in Lafourche Parish to be active participants in their communities. They must be given opportunities to learn and practice life skills and they need positive caring relationships with adults. The Lafourche Parish 4-H program has the ability to reach youth and provide these necessary conditions that youth need to be capable productive citizens of their communities.
