FoodRight’s mission is to empower youth to choose foods that sustain lifelong health. We believe every child deserves the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make healthy food choices, regardless of income or background. FoodRight advances this mission by combining hands-on culinary nutrition education with efforts to create healthier school food environments, giving young people both the practical skills to make healthy choices and greater access to foods that support those choices. Through our signature Youth Chef Academy, students in grades K5–12 learn to prepare healthy, affordable meals from scratch using fresh ingredients. Cooking becomes a tool for developing nutrition knowledge, confidence, teamwork, and essential life skills while encouraging students to try and enjoy wholesome foods. FoodRight empowers young people to take an active role in their own well-being while helping schools create environments that make healthy choices easier. Ultimately, our work helps youth build skills and habits they can carry into adulthood and share with their families and communities.
