VITTLES FOR VETS
Mission Statement
Vittles for Vets was founded December, 2014 and incorporated with the I.R.S. in January, 2015 as a non-profit veterans charity as a 501 C-3 corporation. The mission of Vittles for Vets is to provide veterans, who have fallen on hard times, and are living at or below the poverty level (as determined by the Federal Government guidelines) a food gift card, in the amount of $50.00, on a weekly basis, for veterans who qualify for the program. To qualify a veteran must fill out a non-invasive application form, be living at or below poverty level, be drug and alcohol free and purchase food items which are approved by Vittles for Vets. Food items would include, but are not limited to, dairy products, fresh produce, meats – poultry and fish products, whole grain products and canned goods. Items strictly forbidden are all foods in the “junk food” category including, but not limited to, ice cream, pastry items, soda pop, candy and snack food items such as potato chips, Cheeto’s and Dorito’s, etc.
