GIRLS HEALTH ED
Mission Statement
Girls Health Ed (GHE) is a feminist grassroots 501(c)(3) founded, led, and operated by young women of color whose mission is to advance gender equality by fostering healthy, informed, and empowered decision-making in adolescent girls and young women (ages 8+), particularly those from low-income, underserved communities, through comprehensive health and sexuality education. We use a community partner-driven and near-peer, train-the-trainer model whereby we recruit volunteer Teaching Fellows (young women who are typically college or graduate students or young professionals) directly from the communities in which we serve and train them to deliver our medically accurate, gender-transformative, and intersectional in-house developed curriculum in schools and community centers. GHE is partnering with Silicon Valley Advantage (SVA), a Woman-Owned Technology and Life Sciences Accelerator, whose mission is to assist aspiring young entrepreneurs with workable and creative ideas, setting up and running their own companies, developing their ideas, and or becoming a part of an existing portfolio companies currently under SVA’s accelerator program. We cultivate strategic alliances, providing resources resulting in operational businesses and prepare young professionals for long-term success and life changing experience.
