TREVORS VISION INC
Mission Statement
Trevor’s Vision is a certified 501(c)(3) Qualifying Charitable Organization dedicated to feeding, clothing, and providing other needed services to homeless families and individuals in our community. We are a small group of volunteers serving about 170 - 200 homeless friends every Thursday evening from a rented space at a church in downtown Phoenix. We have zero administrative costs, as our organization is run entirely by volunteers and funded entirely by donations. After supporting the homeless for seven years, Jeff Kistler founded Trevor’s Vision in 2014 with one goal in mind: to change the world for the better through acts of kindness and generosity. Jeff’s personal generosity has been the main funding source for the food served through Trevor’s Vision. His fiancee, Dawn Malone, spends Thursdays cooking the meals in her home kitchen. In addition, Jeff has purchased shoes, socks, sleeping bags, and personal hygiene kits for our needy neighbors. Jeff’s generosity and passion have been contagious. Through the kindness and donations of others we have been able to expand our services from providing a meal once or twice a month to now serving dinners every Thursday night. Building on that success, our mission has broadened. • We now provide dinner for an average of 170 – 200 homeless individuals and families. During the summer we have served as many as 245 people. • Jeff pays for 60 – 80 loads of laundry every Friday morning at a nearby laundromat. • Dawn and her professional friends provide 15 – 20 shampoos and haircuts at the I Love Public Image salon, which donates space and their own staff one Thursday per month. • Trevor’s Vision now serves monthly Second Saturday lunches at a public park. • Through a donation from a private foundation, Trevor’s Vision has purchased a shower trailer for use by the homeless three times per week. The clothing, showers, haircuts, and hygiene kits we provide are given to encourage and assist the recipients to find employment and thereby housing. We are proud to say that we have numerous success stories that motivate us to want to offer additional services. This year we have helped 25 individuals and families get off the streets and into housing, for which we then provided donated furniture and household items. Those successes have led us to see how important it is to go beyond “feeding the homeless.” While that remains our basic goal, we see the opportunity to make a more lasting difference in the lives of our less fortunate neighbors.
