LAKE COURT HOUSE FOUNDATION INC
Mission Statement
To preserve and restore the 141-year-old Historic Lake Court House, an architectural and cultural destination that has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. When county government left the building, designed by famed 19th Century architect John C. Cochrane, in 1973 the structure was slated for demolition to make way for a parking lot. The not-for-profit Lake Court House Foundation was founded at that time to save the courthouse, restore it to its original 1878 beauty and make it functional and safe for future generations to enjoy. Today the Courthouse is an architecturally significant historic destination visited by local schools, residents and tour groups and is home to the Lake County Historic Museum.
