Mission Statement

Founded in 2001, by Hope Dennis and M. Denise Dennis, The Dennis Farm Charitable Land Trust, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) was created to preserve a rare and beautiful historic and cultural resource in Susquehanna County, PA. The 153-acre farm was originally settled b yhe family of Prince and Judith Perkins, free African Americans who moved to the Northeast PA from Connecticut in 1793, with the original wave of settlement into the region following the American Revolution. In the mid-19th century, their granddaughter and her husband Henry Dennis enlarged the farm. The descendants retained ownership of the property into the 21st and founded DFCLT. The site includes the Perkins-Dennis Family Cemetery where family members including veterans of the American Revolution, War of 1812 and Civil War are resting. The farmhouse dates back 200 years. The DFCLT hosts tours from Spring thru Fall, an annual Symposium in October, and an annual Forum in partnership with the Museum of the American Revolution, in Philadelphia, every February.
